December 3, 2022 – December 4, 2022
The Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lycoming College, Saint John’s School of the Arts and Williamsport Youth Choir presents the timeless classic – The Nutcracker Ballet!
This production of The Nutcracker Ballet will feature LIVE music by Lycoming College students and local musicians, as well as a completely LOCAL intergenerational talent for the entire production, involving over 200 artists of all ages. The cast will include 112 dancers age 4 to adult. The production is a great example pf how teaching art, music, and the performing arts develops talent and self-esteem for our youth. All ages are involved in this structured program which provides a rare and powerful example of a healthy pursuit that they can carry throughout one’s lifetime.
The show follows the journey of a little girl who falls asleep on Christmas Eve after a party at her home and dreams herself into a fantastic world where toys become larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the Mouse King.
The Nutcracker Ballet has been presented each holiday season at the Community Arts Center for over 50 years. To continue the tradition and meet the holiday expectation of our community, the Community Arts Center, Saint John’s School of the Arts, and Lycoming College Music Departments have come together again this year in a creative collaboration to bring the event to the stage. They plan to WOW the audiences with a lavish and imaginative performance of The Nutcracker Ballet.
