STYX was the first rock 'n' roll band to release four consecutive albums that went Multi-Platinum beginning with The Grand Illusion followed by Pieces of Eight, Cornerstone and Paradise Theatre. It was the power ballad, "Lady," from the album Styx II that was their breakout hit and got the ball rolling. On the heels of the hit single "Lady," Styx released Equinox in 1975, selling well and yielding the rock anthem "Suite Madame Blue,"
which gained the band considerable recognition and airplay. When Tommy
Shaw signed on, it proved to be the missing piece in the puzzle and the
rest was history, spawning such classic rock radio standards as "Come
Sail Away," "Renegade," "Blue Collar Man," "Fooling Yourself" and “Mr.
Roboto.”
Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd
Sucherman and Ricky Phillips (along with the occasional surprise
appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo), have performed more live
since ’99 than all of the previous years of their career combined. And
now they are going to be LIVE at the Community Arts Center. Join the
band that continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.
