Since its inception in 1993, the Community Arts Center's volunteer program has grown to more than 250 participants annually, many of whom have been with the CAC since the program began. Each year, these dedicated men and women provide in excess of 20,000 hours of service to our community and help welcome the 900,000 patrons that have walked through our doors since the renovation in 1992. Volunteer Program Purpose
Our volunteers serve as “good will ambassadors” for our theatre and are a vital and necessary part of the experience that every patron has when they attend an event at the CAC. The high level of service that the volunteer staff provides to our patrons ensures a favorable and lasting impression, while guaranteeing their comfort and safety while attending events. Volunteers serve many functions at the CAC such as greeting and directing patrons upon their arrival at the theatre, ticketing, ushering, assisting guests with special needs, providing a seasonal coat check service, selling concessions during the intermission, and being of service to all patrons with questions or concerns. How to Become a CAC Volunteer
The CAC is always looking for new volunteers who are interested in assisting the theatre staff during performances. You must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer and you must also be available to assist at an event at least once a month. All potential volunteers must first attend a Job Shadowing on the night of a live performance. They must also attend the Orientation and Training session held throughout the summer months at the CAC. Each volunteer, upon successfully completing training, will work with a veteran volunteer for their first two events. Every volunteer is required to attend an hour-long annual refresher course.
